MCKINNEY RECORDING

- About The Studio -
My name is Kevin McKinney and I have been writing, recording and teaching music for over 15 years. I grew up playing in the best student jazz groups in the Cleveland area (Settlement Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Impact, Tri-C All-stars) and went on to earn a BFA from the University of Michigan and an MM from the University of Nevada, Reno. During that time, I studied with amazing musicians, performed in front of thousands of people and recorded in renowned recording studios including the Duderstadt Center and The Imirage Sound Lab.
After school, I maintained a private teaching studio, was the director of Music Education for Go Like The Wind Montessori School in Whitmore Lake, Michigan, and directed the Middle School Band at The Livingston Classical Academy, also in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. I also began to play with the Detroit based jazz/funk group
'Doctor Pizza' (click to hear our music!). We have recorded two albums since I joined the band, one of which was recorded at High Bias Recording Studio in Detroit. Many of my compositions are featured on the albums 'Late Night Delivery' and 'Jaded'.
I now live in Bay Village, Ohio, with my wife, Margaret, my 5 year old twins, Owen and Giorgia, my infant son, Arthur, and my beagle, Winnie. I have recently opened up my home studio for area recording projects, specializing in but not limited to singer/songwriter setups, college audition tracks/videos, and small ensembles.
Over the years, out of necessity and curiosity, I have accumulated what amounts to a wonderful home recording studio complete with industry standard recording/mixing equipment and software. I also have an extensive collection of electronic and acoustic instruments and a sound rated and acoustically treated space to record them in. This past year I composed, recorded, mixed and mastered an album entirely in my home studio! You can listen to that music HERE.
I can't wait to share my studio with you and help your musical dreams become a reality!
